Wood Group announces ODL awarded Nexen contract

Wood Group ODL has been awarded a contract worth £500,000 (GBP) to deliver tailored documentation and training systems to Nexen Petroleum UK Limited for its Golden Eagle Area Development (GEAD), in the UK North Sea.

Under the contract, ODL will develop site specific operating procedure manuals, process and utility systems handbooks and modular training systems. The suite of manuals will be complemented by ODL’s IMPACT, a user friendly training tool that draws on site specific operations manuals, procedures, documents and data to provide process training.

Utilising IMPACT, Nexen personnel will have access to the facility’s systems, equipment, procedures and operating principles. IMPACT incorporates self assessment questionnaires to identify knowledge gaps, supports ongoing learning and reduces the training workload for supervisory personnel.

The Golden Eagle field will be developed using two platforms - a wellhead platform and a production, utility and quarters (PUQ) platform, which will be connected by a 70m bridge.  The field is located about 110km northeast of Aberdeen and first production from the project is expected in 2014.  The GEAD project was approved by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change in October 2011. It is being executed by Nexen Petroleum UK Limited, the project operator. Other coventurers include Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd, Suncor Energy UK Ltd and Edinburgh Oil and Gas Ltd.
