Western Planning Area Lease Sale 229 results

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has announced the results of the Western Planning Area Oil and Gas Lease Sale 229 which took place on 28 November 2012. The sale offered 3,873 tracts covering over 20 million acres (80,937.13 square kilometres) located from nine to over 250 miles (402.34 kilometres) off the coast and in water depths ranging from 16 to more than 10,975 feet (3,345 metres).
 
The sale attracted USD133,767,074 in high bids submitted by 13 companies. Of the 3,873 tracts offered, only 116 tracts received bids covering a total of 652,522 acres (2,660.66 square kilometers).
