Statoil announces Troll C production resumed

Tuesday, Nov 20, 2012

Production on the Troll C platform in the North Sea has been resumed, following a shutdown on 15 November due to corrosion found in some tanks on the auxiliary system for treating gas.

A great effort has been made during the weekend to plan the repair work, and we have also looked into alternative production methods,» says Rune Adolfsen, head of production on Troll C.

He says that they have arrived at a solution involving reinjection of untreated gas into the reservoir. Production was resumed during the night between Saturday and Sunday.

We assume that this method will allow us to produce at around 70% of full capacity during the repairs,» explains Adolfsen.

The duration of the repair work has not yet been clarified.
