Oil Search announces drilling report – 24 January 2013

Thursday, Jan 24, 2013

Oil Search reports that as at 06:00 hours KRI time on 24 January, the Taza 1 ST1 well was at a depth of 3,238 metres and preparing to cut the drill string.

During the week, while pulling out of the hole, the drill-string became stuck and attempts to free it were unsuccessful. The drill-string will be cut above the stuck point and following recovery of the rest of the drill string, the forward plan is to commence a sidetrack to drill to the Euphrates Formation.

The Taza prospect is located approximately 80 kilometres southwest of the city of Sulaymaniyah. The primary objectives are Miocene and Oligocene carbonates of the Jeribe and Euphrates Formations.
