REC says wins $500 mln silicon powder supply deal

Wednesday, Oct 22, 2008

Norwegian solar industry group Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) said on Monday that it won a contract worth more than $500 million to supply silicon powder to an Asia-based company for seven years.

The deal will help REC, which is a supplier of solar-grade silicon and wafers to the solar power industry, to boost revenues from a byproduct that it does not now plan to use internally, REC said in a statement.

The contract has a value in excess of $500 million...and runs for seven years from 2009 through 2015, REC said.
