Company’s presence at inaugural Offshore Korea show underscores HandyTube’s commitment to the international market

HandyTube Corporation continues to solidify its presence as a world leader in seamless, stainless steel coil tubing for offshore and shipbuilding applications.

HandyTube, a premium manufacturer of Xtreme Length™ seamless, stainless steel coil tube for diverse industrial, manufacturing and research industries worldwide, was a key participant in the Korean Ministry of Economy and Knowledge and the European Marine Equipment Council’s first Offshore Korea exhibition, held November 14-16 in Busan, South Korea—one of the world’s largest offshore plant and shipbuilding cities.

With the boom in drilling, storing, transporting and refining oil and natural gas, the Korean shipyards are producing complex, quality and high-value units. HandyTube’s high-integrity products are, therefore, a good prospective fit for the Korean market. Moreover, with its recent facility improvements and 10,000-square-foot expansion to increase output, HandyTube is poised to meet broader global demand for its products.

As a significant portion of HandyTube’s output from its Delaware facility is related to energy, from on-shore to subsea environments, HandyTube’s exposure at Offshore Korea came at an auspicious time. Shipbuilders are anticipated to begin construction of liquid natural gas (LNG) ships in mid 2013 to keep up with rising energy demands.

Seven of the 10 leading shipyards of the world are based in Korea, and Offshore Korea 2012 was sponsored by four of them: Hyundai, Daewoo, Samsung and STX. HandyTube’s superior seamless coil tube is used for hydraulic tubing, controls and other critical applications in shipbuilding.

The exhibit creators’ goal was to provide global specialized manufacturers in the shipbuilding industry an opportunity to expand their markets. Along with HandyTube, 400 companies exhibited equipment related to offshore plant, exploring, drilling, transporting, storage, renewable and green ship technology during Offshore Korea. The opportunity for HandyTube at this important exhibition was substantial; more than 250 sales leads were generated in the three days there.

The exhibition programming thematically addressed petroleum development market trends and forecasts, shipbuilding and construction technology, boring, production, petrochemical, oil and gas, and marine resources exploration and development—areas in which HandyTube currently does business.
