Gazprom announces Yelets – Shchekino gas trunkline commissioned

A festive ceremony dedicated to the commissioning of the retrofitted Yelets – Shchekino gas trunkline  took place in Sotsialistichesky settlement of the Shchekino District, Tula Region. Taking part in the event were Yury Andrianov, First Deputy Governor of the Tula Region – Chairman of the Tula Region Government and Vyacheslav Mikhalenko, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Moscow. The gas trunkline is located within Gazprom Transgaz Moscow operating area.

The Yelets – Shchekino gas trunkline (1,220 millimeters in diameter and more than 160 kilometers in total length) commissioning completed the retrofitting of the national North Caucasus – Center gas trunkline system, which secures the transmission of more than 27 billion cubic meters.

Bringing onstream the final section will enable to double (to 108.2 million cubic meters a day) the throughput of the North Caucasus – Center gas trunkline system at the Yelets – Prishnya section and supply Russia’s central regions and, first of all, the Tula and Moscow Regions and Moscow with additional 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas annually. This is especially important considering the rapid development of central regions. Moscow, the Moscow, Tula and Kaluga Regions that consume natural gas supplied by this trunkline show the annual consumption growth of 5 to 12 per cent.
