The use of AVEVA WorkMate and AVEVA PDMS improves project efficiency and mitigates operational risk on the Brynhild and Edvard Grieg oilfields in the North Sea

Oslo, Norway – 19 November 2012: AVEVA today announced that Lundin Norway AS, a key operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), has signed an agreement to implement a broad range of AVEVA technology for use on its first operated oilfields in the North Sea. Included in the contract are AVEVA’s Enterprise Asset Management solution, AVEVA WorkMate, and 3D engineering design solution AVEVA PDMS. Lundin will benefit from WorkMate’s ability to visualise work planning and to identify areas of risk that can be rapidly addressed. At the same time, the greater design efficiency of AVEVA PDMS will help it to compress project schedules and reduce rework.

Lundin will also be deploying AVEVA’s Control of Work solutions: AVEVA Safe Job Analysis and AVEVA Work Permit Manager, along with AVEVA Global for project work sharing.

“AVEVA offers a complete, integrated solution for Owner Operators and provides domain expertise to assist us preparing for operations” said Kari Nielsen, Field Operations Manager, Lundin Norway. “AVEVA WorkMate will ensure all future maintenance work is planned effectively and executed safely, a key goal for us. In addition the implementation will include integration to our legacy back-end finance systems. We also have the option to extend our future use of AVEVA software, to include its range of Engineering Information solutions.”

“I would like to thank all the reference customers who supported our bid by advocating our technology and knowledge in this area,” added Derek Middlemas, COO and Head of Enterprise Solutions, AVEVA. “AVEVA has been able to prove to Lundin that we are the right long-term partner to deliver the best software and service to support the growth of their business. Through our considerable experience in offshore operations, we understand the challenges that Lundin face as an operator on the NCS. By offering our best-in-class asset management and design solutions, with the potential for future additions, we believe our joint efforts will help to set new standards in safe and efficient operations of offshore installations.”

Under the terms of this agreement, Lundin will be able to further expand its Operations Integrity Management strategy by using additional AVEVA technology, and is keen to investigate the benefits offered by the AVEVA NET product family.  This application-agnostic collaboration hub provides data quality control and validation that enables an even greater degree of information management.

AVEVA WorkMate, an AVEVA Enterprise solution, allows plant operators to optimise output, minimise downtime, extend working life and maintain regulatory compliance. AVEVA PDMS 3D design software is part of the AVEVA Plant portfolio, delivering maximum design productivity and capability on all types of plant projects, from small upgrades to major new builds.
